IES Upplands Väsby is a K-9 school located just outside central Upplands Väsby. The school started in 2020 and has around 600 fantastic students and 65 dedicated staff members.

We are now looking for a social pedagogue who is passionate about working with children and young people and who wants to be a role model and an important part of their school life.

As a social pedagogue at IES Upplands Väsby, you will be out in the field building relationships with students in different grades. You will work to increase safety and engagement among our students so that they thrive in school and can focus on learning and social development.

Your role will also involve being present in classrooms when needed, as well as sometimes working individually with students who need extra support.

You need to be independent, while your work will largely be shaped together with other staff members. Team leaders, special educators, student health teams, and assistant principals are natural partners in various student matters.

It is important that you share the values of the International English School and are a role model for your surroundings.

Your work will also include:

• Contacting/meeting parents in student matters when necessary
• Creating contacts and relationships with parents, students, and staff
• Planning and implementing activities for the grades that promote their social development together with colleagues.
• Working with incidents and following up with solution-focused action plans.
• There may also be a responsibility for a small number of mentee students.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education such as social pedagogue or teaching assistant
• Good language skills in English
• Experience working with children and young people is an advantage, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations and be flexible in your role.
• Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

The position is a fixed-term employment for one year with the possibility of extension.
